One of the biggest concerns for home owners is water entry because of the devastation and damage it can cause to structure, materials and personal contents. Proper water management at the exterior is critical and here are some of the items to be aware of throughout the year that will help control the water and keep it away from the building. Eavestroughs (gutters) - Clean, functioning gutters collect large amounts of water from the roof and channel it to the downspouts. Trees shed debris throughout the year which will collect in the gutters and cause reduced performance by restricting the proper flow of water. Gutters need to be cleaned on a regular basis to maintain good performance, direct the water to the downspouts and discharge it far away from the building.
